The Mutiny P-Series is an Island favourite for a smooth and solid performance. If you love jumping high and doing kiteloops then this is the kite for you. The Mutiny P-Series is a 5 line C kite and comes in 6m, 8m, 10m, 12m and 14m sizes. The real gems in the range are the 8m and 10m which are like rockets when the wind is blowing. Despite having great performance the P-Series are also incredibly easy to fly thanks to smooth power delivery and a large depower range on the bar. The P-Series can be flown in wakestyle or freeride mode. When on the wakestyle setting the kite sits further back in the wind window for more power and better slackline performance when pulling off unhooked tricks.
The P-Series is our high performance, 5-line ‘C’ kite aimed at aspiring freestyle riders. It’s the fastest turning kite in the Mutiny line up with precise handling and impressive stability – featuring solid, stable power coupled with a light touch on the bar. For this latest third generation model we’ve increased the aspect ratio and made subtle but significant improvements to the profile shape and canopy tensioning. The smoother canopy in the all important front 1/3rd of the kite makes the new P - Series drive faster to the top of the window with improved float and hangtime. Our team riders find it much easier to land the latest moves thanks to improved pop and slack with the added advantage of an increased wind range over the previous models.
Mutiny P-Series Kite Features:
All new design:Increased aspect ratio and tightened canopy tension to drive the P - Series to the top of the window with improved boosting, hangtime and kite loops.
5th line set up:A 5-line set up stabilises the leading edge under load allowing a thinner, more efficient and lighter tube to produce greater speed and efficiency. The result - a kite with light bar pressure, explosive jumps, huge wind range and the fastest total-kill safety.
5 Strut design:Featuring the highest aspect ratio design in our line up, 5 struts maintain tension across the entire canopy producing the most efficient aero foil ensuring fast, responsive handling.
Fast turn speed:The large wing tips promote faster turn speed to position the kite where you need it.
Direct feel:The clever tow - point positioning and direct connection of the rear lines to the trailing edge (no pulleys), produces a light but responsive bar. Great for intuitive feedback so you can ride for long sessions without fatigue.
Mutiny P-Series Designers Notes
Remco, Sjored and Vera Klabbers along with Drew Christianson have been instrumental in developing the latest P – Series. The initial focus was to get greater drive into the kite. Remco told me : make the 12m and 14m kite loop as well as the 8m and the 10m.” Larger kites are always harder to drive well because they’re obviously heavier and need more wind energy. But if we could get this right then I felt we could improve all the sizes at the same time. The “aggregation of marginal gains” is a term coined by the British cycling team to describe the methods they used to become the best in the world. We follow a similar mould. A single innovation can make a big difference but it’s the accumulation of lots of often quite small design features that combine to make a significant improvement. And this is what we have done with the P – Series. There is a significant increase in aspect ratio, which is clear to see, but there are a host of smaller less obvious improvements, such as the canopy tensioning and more accurate leading edge tube shaping which helps keep the canopy clean as well as the profile shape. The struts are better aligned with the airflow direction to reduce drag, and we have reduced the strut diameters to save weight, while keeping them fat enough to allow easy re-launching in the water. These seemingly small refinements produce a more aerodynamically efficient kite which translates into better upwind performance with increased lift and hangtime while maintaining that easy to use direct feel loved by Mutiny riders. As well as the flight improvements we’ve also made numerous changes to increase durability and ease of use. Our reinforcement patches now use a tougher STPU coating with higher puncture resistance and wear properties without adding to the weight. We’ve redesigned the strut ends to make it easier to change bladders as well as removing two zips so there are fewer failure points and there’s an incremental weight saving. To cap it all, we’ve added a lightweight inner bag for kite trips to help avoid those hefty airline excess baggage fees! So , did we get the 12m and 14m to drive as well as the 8m and 10m? Well they certainly drive way better, but you will have to check with Remco on that. I suspect he would still rather be out on a 10m… and this latest model.
